Ce sont les tonneaux vides qui font le plus de bruit.
#vegan tikka masala!! (Taken with Instagram at Chez Moi)

Waking up after a night of wine and beer with the family, coming to terms with the sheer amount of garlic bread (aka gross refined white flour and pure butter) that you ate. I guarantee nothing will make you cringe or feel more sluggish.

And to top it off, it wasn’t even vegan which automatically makes me feel worse, because I’m trying so hard. This is the part of vacations that I really really hate. Not only is my family not really veggie friendly, (although it’s starting to look better) vacations are a nutritional nightmare. And let’s be honest here, I could stand to loose a few lbs and it’s especially clear when I’m with my naturally lithe sisters and cousins.

So, I’m kinda frustrated but I’m just gonna keep trucking and buy myself one heck of a green salad for the next five days. It’s best not to dwell on past mistakes and move on, I find. Today is a brand new day.

(Disclosure: I’m a newbie vegan, transitioned to this lifestyle about 2 months ago.)

So, do any of your families treat your veganism like a “phase”? I’m almost sure that they’re waiting for it to “pass” and me to resume an omni diet.

Haha. The tricky thing is that they don’t realise that this is part of my life now, from here on out. I love the food that I’m eating, how I’m bettering the planet and my health, etc.

What are some ways to help them realise that I’m not in a “phase” or “experimenting” with my food? Suggestions and stories, please!!

So, my family thinks that it’s fine to use all my vegan butter like it’s no big deal. And then they get all bent out of shape when I get upset because I can’t use “their” butter.

Am I dumb for getting pissed or is this actually justified annoyance?

Mmm… I forgot to take a pic because I just scarfed it down. Typical.

But, it was….

A roasted tomato wrap, filled with beans, rice, cilantro, onion, avocado, veggie “cheese”, and veganaise.

Seriously, you guys.
I hope they have veganaise in the UK or a damn good substitute. The BEST vegan condiment that I’ve come across.

I’m a budding vegan/vegetarian and I’m concerned that I won’t be able to find good alternative “meat” and “dairy” products next year. Ditto for probiotics. I actually take straight probiotic powder and mix it with water or juice.

Any suggestions or recommendations from my UK vegan friends? Does Marks and Spencer’s carry anything good?
